Daniel Suge: For The Time Being

After taking a longer-than-expected time away from the studio, Cardiff-based producer Daniel Suge announces his latest mellow dance beat, ‘For The Time Being’

Released late last year via electronic label Afanc, Daniel Suge’s debut EP was greeted with a joyous yet somber call for celebration. A poignantly personal collection — dedicated to Daniel’s mother, Nicola, who sadly passed away last year — all five of ‘Ventifact’s tracks featured samples and interpolations found on his mother’s phone. Its follow-up, ‘For The Time Being’, is a blissfully melancholic mood changer, made for the night and day.

Leaning into the rave sound of the 90s with its sharp breakbeats and its distant, mellow melodies, ‘For The Time Being’ is a tribute to the friends who got him through the year. Made “to capture the euphoria of being at gigs, in clubs or in the car with friends'', Daniel adds: “It is an ode to those times when you don’t need to talk, just connect with those closest mates through a shared love of music and forget about any of life’s constant pressures and worries.” Released as a standalone single, ‘For The Time Being’ will form part of a larger conceptual project that deals with the breakdown of friendships and how that impacts other friendships and relationships.

Mixed and mastered by Lewys Meredydd, the track comes accompanied by a music video made by Daniel, featuring a supercut of his favourite moments spent with those closest to him over the last year and a half. Ahead of its release this Friday 25th August, catch ‘For The Time Being’ exclusively here:
