Ones to Watch in 2025

Five new names who could define the year

Tokomololo

Eight weeks into the new year and already two shows down, it’s clear that Anglesey-born producer, Tokomololo, has big plans for 2025. Fusing mellow melodies with Bonobo-style ambient electronica, Tokomololo aka Meilir Lee Evans, dropped four singles last year, with his latest offering, ‘Sylfaen’, tipped by Selector Radio’s Sian Eleri. A long-time admirer of producers such as Ifan Dafydd and James Blake, Tokomololo’s next live outing comes next Saturday at Hyde Park Book Club for Ffîn’s Across the Border debut. As his first EP simmers, lock in your tickets now.

Lleucu Non

Lleucu Non’s only show to-date came last December at Clwb Ifor Bach,  but it was enough to suggest that the Cardiff-based singer-songwriter is gearing up to a fruitful year ahead. Boasting Clairo’s aesthetics and similar dream-pop elements to The Cranberries, Twrw Trwy’r Dydd’s 6PM slot was a glimpse of what to expect from the multifaceted artist following her hypnotic catalogue opener, ‘Dwi Ar Gau’. Bridging raw, intimate vocals with dreamy yet mysterious melodies, Lleucu Non is a name that should be on your radar this year.

Daniel Suge

More of a new chapter than a new name, 2025 could be the year that Cardiff-based producer, Daniel Suge, emerges from the underground. From previous project, ‘Ventifact’, through to his latest drop, ‘SERO MIXTAPE’ — a soothing blend of textured electronica and trance-inducing pop sensibilities — Suge often deep dives into themes of discovery, desire and disconnect via sugary beats and choppy productions. Now ready to “move on to new bits with a slightly different feel,” we wait patiently to see his change in direction.

Angharad

Born and based in London, producer Angharad is a name we’re anticipating big things from in 2025. Referencing the likes of John Glacier, Wet, Overmono and Kaeto as her current on-loop selects, Angharad crafts her own sonic template that floats somewhere between dance and dream-pop sweetness. As her fourth and latest self-produced single, ‘stay!’ — taken from her upcoming debut EP — poses a slighter glossier, more refined production style, we're looking forward to seeing the project blossom over the coming months.

SHINOBii

Amidst his relentless touring schedule with indie-frontrunners, Adwaith, Rhys Grail of award-winning Welsh-language band, Gwilym, unearths his deeply personal solo pop-project, SHINOBii. Exploring themes of self-reflection, escapism and freedom, SHINOBii creates a world of melancholic soundscapes by weaving raw emotion with heartfelt introspection. Whether you’re seeking solace or a space to unwind, SHINOBii carves a certain vulnerability that feels both fragile and comforting. Debut track, ‘FT.NO1’, drops next Friday 28th February.
