Thallo releases stellar new single 'Pluo'
Earlier this year, we sat down with Elin Edwards, aka Thallo, as she announced her new EP 'Crescent'. Three months later and the follow-up to her lead single 'Carry Me' lands in the form of 'Pluo' - a strikingly beautiful dream-pop juggernaut that both haunts and entices.
Thallo surged to widespread appeal on the back of her unique, enveloping sound captured on debut EP 'Nhw', while her 2021 series of singles - including 'Mêl', 'The Water' and 'Pressed and Preserved' - greatly extended her palette. With her second EP set to drop later this year, 'Pluo' is everything that we’ve come to expect from Thallo - an enthralling vocal delivery weaved into a subtle mélange of gentle jazz infusions.
Inspired by the effects of chronic pain and debilitating mobility issues faced in day to day life, 'Pluo' explores Thallo's heart-breaking pain of watching the world reopen whilst being trapped in her own personal lockdown. As explained by Elin: “I felt so stuck, unable to return to my normal life. But most of all, the song is a cry of fear for the loneliness and hopelessness of being left behind whilst everyone else moved forward”.
‘Pluo’s accompanying video, produced and co-directed by Aled Wyn Jones and Andy Pritchard for Darlun, is out today via Lŵp:
